A relative of mine makes menu's for restaurants and when she talks to the chef's they give her a list of the food and their prices, how much they are to make and how much they cost. some things like a sandwhich would cost 2 bucks to make and they'd charge like 8 bucks for it. pretty nifty

Yea its sad, they way those animals are treated, but is that really going to make me give up meat? Not really, although I fell bad for those animals...

Well, somewhat off topic, at the grocery store I work at, we got a deal on Bar-S hot dogs, so they were half off for us to buy from the manufacturer. Normal price was 30 cents, we got them for 15 cents, and sold them for 88 cents each. We went through a pallet full of them in two days. So yeah, mass market stores/food chains in general make ridiculous profits.

I've done the calculations! If you take the fractions of oil, bun prices, meat stocks, and quality that McDonalds use, they use per burger, approximately:

10 cents on oil
20 cents on potatoes (fries)
30 cents on meat (wholesale is a loooot cheaper...and their meat is trash anyway)
20 cents on watered soda
5 cents on the boxes/bags

so in total about:
85 cents per burger
$6.15 profit margin

...and a heart attack just waiting to happen.
